Late one night, Neil and Sumul Shah, the two brothers and driving force behind Brooklyn/San Francisco-based indie rock band Wildlife Control, decide to play around with the SoundCloud API. At first thinking it could be cool to create a quick little animated ASCII project, they dug a little deeper and decided to go way bigger, totally inspired by the SoundCloud API.
What came out of this was an 8-bit video for Wildlife Control’s first single,“Analog or Digital”. The entire video is in HTML5, with the SoundCloud API as the backbone. The scenes are rendered on a “pixel” grid of HTML divs and with each play you will have a unique viewing!
They got even more creative and made the video interactive. SoundCloud comments are displayed within the video. You can even connect your SoundCloud or Facebook account and post your comment and see them appear in the video while it’s playing.
Oh and by the way, did I mention the song is AWESOME-LY catchy, watch the video here.
