If you missed it, this is last week’s Follow the Fellows guest blog post by one of the 2012 SoundCloud Community Fellows: Anne Wootton and Bailey Smith of Pop Up Archive.
Hi SoundCloud,
We are very seriously, enormously, almost unbearably pleased to announce that our project is one of the winners of the Knight News Challenge: Data. We will be receiving support to work on Pop Up Archive from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight News Challenge. The Knight News Challenge accelerates media innovation by funding breakthrough ideas in news and information. More at newschallenge.org In other news, we’ll be accepting a select group of producers (podcasters, journalists, oral historians, and content-creators of all stripes) to participate in our free Archive 101 Training Workshop (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace My Complete Data Maelstrom). If you’re interested in participating, let us know who you are, what you’ve got, and how archiving it will change your life (or at least your work). You can email us at popuparchive@gmail.com or, in the spirit of SoundCloud, upload an audio submission to our SC Dropbox at http://soundcloud.com/popuparchive/dropbox.
The training will be held on the rapidly approaching Tuesday, October 9th; so, if you want to get involved, let us know ASAP. That’s all for now. Be sure to follow the PopUpArchive on SoundCloud — we’ve got some cool stuff planned for the coming weeks, including some archival audio mashup challenges that mustn’t be missed. Thanks for listening to our latest — a treasure chest of questions from The Kitchen Sisters archive.
 Yours truly, Anne and Bailey
