Thank you to all who participated in the Audiobiography community project. It was great to hear everyone’s unique sounds and personalities.
April is National Poetry Month, and we are launching a new community collaboration project called National Poetry Month Collaborations to commemorate this important form of art.
The goal is to welcome everyone to share great pieces of poetry that are out there through words and music. Whether you are a singer, musician, spoken word artist, you can choose how you’d like to be involved.
Here’s how:
Join the National Poetry Month Collaborations group: https://soundcloud.com/groups/national-poetry-month-collaborations
You can participate in the following ways:
Option 1 - Share a line of your favorite poetry or spoken word pieceUpload one line of your favorite poetry/spoken word piece. It can be from your favorite poet or from your own works. Tag the track “Oneliner.” Name the title of your track “National Poetry Month: Your Name.” For example: National Poetry Month: Christopher D. Sims. Credit the poem you decide to use in the description.
Option 2: Add to the poem or add backing music to itDownload one of the “Oneliner” tagged submissions. Continue the poem, or provide original backing music to one of the pieces. The idea here is to create a completely new poem by adding a different line or music to it.
3. By April 30, submit to the group. Be sure to include the name of everyone involved in your collaboration in the description.
All submissions will be featured on the SoundCloud Heroes profile and featured here. We look forward to hearing your submissions. Help spread the word and get your fellow SoundCloud friends and followers involved. We hope to hear some great sounds from you.

"On behalf of the SoundCloud Heroes, thanks to all the SoundClouders who took the time to tell the world (or show the world, for those of you who chose music and noise over verbiage) about who they are and what they do. With nearly 300 submissions, the #audiobio SoundCloud tag is now home to a fascinating cross-section of the community’s creators. And though our weekly roundups may be coming to a close for now, the indelible tag will always be there. Let’s continue to grow SoundCloud’s collection of sonic self-portrayals.”

Create a Celtic-inspired sound for St. Patrick’s Day

This is a guest post by SoundCloud Hero Dave McKeown. Follow and connect with the SoundCloud Heroes to find out more about community projects, collaborations and more.

St Patrick’s Day comes around every March 17th, so why not help us celebrate the occasion in SoundCloud style?

All you need to do is play, record and upload something Celtic or Irish themed over the next few days and tag it “St Patrick” or “Irish.” Next week we’ll search the ‘cloud for your music and put them all into a special St Patrick’s set that will be featured here again.

If you need some inspiration, here are three stems of the jig, “Out on the Ocean”, recorded on whistle, low whistle and uilleann pipes, ready to download and remix . They were all recorded to a click, and they’re all in the key of G. They’ll all fit together of course, as they would in a traditional Irish session. If you want to have a go, don’t feel you have to be the least bit traditional in your approach. Whatever you like!

Slainte!

This is a guest post by SoundCloud Hero and music critic/organizer Marc Weidenbaum, who is based in San Francisco, California. Follow and connect with the SoundCloud Heroes to find out more about community projects, collaborations and more.
When we set out to create the #Audiobio project, the goal was to connect listeners with the musicians and sound creators they listen to. Anyone who has had a phone call, or met up face to face with someone they had only previously corresponded with online knows the power that hearing someone’s voice can have — not just at that moment, but in all subsequent communications between them.
The idea of #audiobio is that by hearing the voices of the people whose music and sound we admire, we’ll have a deeper sense of connection to them when we hear more of their work in the future — not just because of what they say (the story of their lives, the goals of their art, and so forth) but how they say it: their voice, their intonation, their temperament.
Head here to listen to this week’s set. Audiobiographies will be shared every week so post yours to be featured. All languages are welcome to participate. You can find translations of how to get involved in more than 8 languages here. See all past recaps here.

Soundcloud Heroes neemt dit jaar de aftrap met een gemeenschappelijk georganiseerd project;

Het is makkelijk ;

1. Neem een geluid op, of deel creatief een geluid, dat omschrijft en beantwoord de vraag ;

2. Parçanın isminde Audiobiography ve kendi adını kullan, örneğin “Audiobiography: Ben Z”. Tanım da ekle.

3. Parçayı “audiobio” olarak etiketle ve SoundCloud’a yükle.
