Disquiet Junto Project | 0075: Faulty Notation Every week, communal sound-making group Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud creates music based on an assigned topic. This week’s project is special. In conjunction with Geoff Manaugh of BLDG BLOG, who taught a graduate course about the San Andreas Fault in California, participants will interpret a segment of the San Andreas Fault as a musical score. A free iOS app of the map and the resulting music may also be developed in which users can touch the map to trigger an associated recording from the group. Ta-Ku | SoundCloud Community (50 Days For Dilla & 25 Nights For Nujabes

Perth-based producer Ta-Ku created a beat a day earlier this year for two separate tribute albums for his biggest inspirations, J Dilla and Nujabes.

Hear him share a behind-the-scenes look into the inspiration behind dedicating time daily to create something new. He also imparts great advice to those looking to do something similar.

Provocative Chinese artist and human rights advocate Ai Weiwei has debuted the first single, Dumbass, from his forthcoming heavy metal album, The Divine Comedy, via his SoundCloud profile. The confrontational and explicit lyrics allude to the trauma he experienced during and after his 81 days in prison on a tax evasion charge. The Audio Spotlight | A Conversation with Deane Ogden about Eastern Chronicle

Composer and SoundClouder Deane Ogden created a global collaborative album “Eastern Chronicle” featuring more than 200 musicians, singers and production personnel who were involved in this 18-month process. Ogden traveled across eight different countries in East Asia and used SoundCloud to manage the project.

SoundClouder of the Day | Vieka

With sounds concocted from a mix of musical instruments, toys and electronic geekery, Vieka is anything but conventional. Describing herself as a ”singer-songwriter-electronic-fiddler-producer-engineer”, her avant-garde creations have led her to be compared to the likes of Björk and Portishead.

We like her experimental sounds and inventive use of tags (‘Lullabytronica’, anyone?) but we especially love the way Vieka leaves feedback and encouragement on other SoundClouders’ work. Way to go!
