Provocative Chinese artist and human rights advocate Ai Weiwei has debuted the first single, Dumbass, from his forthcoming heavy metal album, The Divine Comedy, via his SoundCloud profile. The confrontational and explicit lyrics allude to the trauma he experienced during and after his 81 days in prison on a tax evasion charge. Weiwei dedicated the song, “…to all those people who do not have the opportunity to raise their voice, who will never be able to raise their voices.” You can follow him here https://soundcloud.com/aiww

Harry Potter Joins SoundCloud!
Are you a Harry Potter fan? Want to listen to something slightly less shrill than the The Fat Lady guarding Gryffindor Tower? Pottermore has joined SoundCloud, adding audiobook snippets read by Stephen Fry.
SoundClouder of the Day | Vieka
With sounds concocted from a mix of musical instruments, toys and electronic geekery, Vieka is anything but conventional. Describing herself as a ”singer-songwriter-electronic-fiddler-producer-engineer”, her avant-garde creations have led her to be compared to the likes of Björk and Portishead.
We like her experimental sounds and inventive use of tags (‘Lullabytronica’, anyone?) but we especially love the way Vieka leaves feedback and encouragement on other SoundClouders’ work. Way to go!

Remix Phoenix’s ‘Trying To Be Cool’
Has Phoenix’s ‘Bankrupt!’ been soundtracking the start to your summer? If so, why not put your own spin on one of the French rocker’s tracks?
In partnership with The Creators Project, the band have uploaded the stems of ‘Trying To Be Cool’ to their SoundCloud page, and are collecting remixes in a SoundCloud Group.
Once you’ve finished your version of the track, add it to the Group’s DropBox. They’ll be highlighting their favourites on The Creators Project blog.
Here are some of the submissions so far.
Magnifique!
